Since last week, machines in my network are not properly recording events from MsiInstaller. For instance:
The description for Event ID ( 11724 ) in Source ( MsiInstaller ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Product: Java Auto Updater -- Removal completed successfully., (NULL), (NULL), (NULL), (NULL), , .
Machines having this issue have the following Registry key 'HKLMSYSTEMControlSet001ServicesEventlogApplicationMsiInstaller' set to: Judul kti elektromedik gampang 12.
Ultimate doom mouse look. '%SystemRoot%system32msimsg.dll'
While on machines that don't exhibit this behavior, the value is:
'C:windowssystem32msi.dll' Minion addon manager review.
![]()
Manually fixing the key's value fixes the issue and messages from MsiInstaller are successfully recorded with all details. However, I would like to understand what could have caused this. Any hints?

My WSUS server is throwing errors in the Event Viewer. (screen-shot attached). There are also several XP clients that will not install the Root Certificate Updates [March 2001] update. This causes an update loop where the client machines continually want to install the update. These may be unrelated issues, but I wanted to get all the details here. I'm essentially concerned about the root certificate update look AND the WUSUS Errors. THREE ISSUES OF CONCERN:
1.) WSUS -- MsiInstaller Event ID: 1013 2.) WSUS -- Clients Event ID: 13031 3.) XP Clients -- Root Certificate Updates [March 2001] continually fails ![]() Event Id 1015 MsiinstallerApplication Event List as sourced by WSUS is attached.

Root-Cert.jpg WSUS-in-a-Bad-Way.jpg WSUS-Server-Application-Events.txtI googled and looked and subscribed to EventID.net for one year. Still no good solutions for this error. Some poeple get this when trying to install SCR331x CAC Card Reader Software It lists the software in Add/Remove probrams. I can install the drivers manually but the software is just not there. When I try and run the Setup.exe for it it gives me this error in Event Viewer. The actuall error when running it says something like Did not detect MSIInstaller on your system blah. However, I see MsiInstallerEngineMSI in AddRemove Programs and can install other .exe's fine. Can someone show me how to find out exactly what is missing and how to fix it? Comments are closed.
